so this is a side headshot sketch of the vlatoran race. as i said before, they appear to look somewhat like crustaceans.

they have four eyes and as a result, have a huge field of vision and their sight is very sharp as well. their eyes have a yellowish appearance and their iris' are very thin if not invisible.
as you can see, they also have two pairs of nostrils as well, and so their sense of smell is also excellant.
they have stream lined ears but their hearing is on par with humans.
they also, have a mandeble on the each side of their mouth. in females, it is slightly smaller.
they speak at the same pitch as humans, but have a flanged tone in their voice. they also speak english like most of the other advanced races.
their teeth are razor sharp and point backwards. this is product of their evolution as the apex predator on their world.
they have a large smooth and hard semiflexible head plate. it developed as a head shield and it also acted as protection from their twin star's intense light whenever the sky cleared on some days. in females, it is longer and slightly bends over behind their heads.
they also have segmented plates running along the back of their heads and down to their necks that acts as protection.
their bodies are of a thinner and tall build rather than muscular and they have a long slender tail which they use for swimming. as a result of their slender, smooth and stream lined anatomy, they are one of the fastest species in water.
they have three sharp claw like fingers and toes.
they have taught themselves to more peaceful and gentle. but they can still be very aggressive, intimidating and dangerous when they want to.
they have red blood due to hemoglobin like humans, but their chirality is dextro, opposite to humans.
males are on average 2 feet taller than the average human and females are on average 1 and 1/2 feet taller than humans.
they have an internal skeletal system that is somewhat flexible.
their bodies are covered with semiflexible plates which provide some protection but can still be easily punctured with some force. they can still move freely because thier joints aren't covered. their faces are also exposed rather than covered. some species call the plates an exoskeletan but vlatorans prefer to call it semiflexible body plates.
these plates are usually a dark reddish brown in colour. but sometimes in rare cases, may be yellowish or orangish in colouration.
their skin tone is usually a very dark gray. some may have a dark reddish or brownish gray. in very rare cases, some may be slightly dark bluish gray.
the have gill like organs on the sides of their abdomins but can also choose to breathe water through their nostrils if they want to. they wear water filled devices around their gills in order to breathe or some wear a water filled suit similar to that of the akhelans.
they live on average 130 earth years but some can live to be 200. they have biotechnology but their anatomy makes i difficult to integrate it into their systems. however, certain individuals have the money to do it and so are capable of living for 450 years.

their society is mainly based around politics and so, they are quite the talker and not the doer. however, the majority of the population do hold true to their word and treat others fairly and equally. they live on the small islands of their planet in huge cities of incredible engineering accomplishments. they also have dangerous weapons and technology hidden in huge storage facilities beneath their cities, and due to their current political war, each territory is starting to threaten the other with these WMD's.

they are recognised in the galactic society for their architecture, science and law making. but their laws can are begin to grow on other races, and so, having a vlatoran around can lead to little political disputes or outbursts between races.
