hello!:D wow, its been a while since i last submitted a space scape huh? blame school for that.^^; besides that, i did not return with anyhting less than exceptional.:D this is a rendidtion of the planet gliese 667 Cc. i believe a rendition of this planet was long over due. after all, as of mid 2013, it is the second most potentially habitable exoplanet after the recently discovered kepler-62e.
here, i depicted the planet in the foreground with the parent star C and another 4 planets further away. in the far background, i also added the bright binary component of the system, stars Gliese 667 A (lower left) and Gliese 667 B (upper right).
the additional planets orbiting star C depicted here are:
Gliese 667 Cg (unconfirmed): distant planet just to the right of Gliese 667 Cc.
Gliese 667 Cd (confirmed): distant planet to the right of Gliese 667 Cg.
Gliese 667 Cb (confirmed): near planet that is seen transiting the parent star Gliese 667 C.
Gliese 667 Ch (unconfirmed): near planet located to the right of the star Gliese 667 C.

i spent about 18 hours working on this over the coarse of 3 days. most of the time spent on it was just from tweaking and creating the background and system. the actual planet itself took no more than 2 hours. this is also the largest image size i've used as well, being 12,000px * 5,000px. the file size was also the biggest to, being a massive 4.5 gb. i'm just glad its finally done.

so enjoy the image!:) and remember that comments and critques and favs are welcome and appreciated!:D

Description

Gliese 667 C is an M type star located 22.1 light years away from earth in the constellation of scorpius. the star is part of the gliese 667 triple star system, where it orbits a binary star system composed of 2 brighter K type stars named gliese 667 A and gliese 677 B.  gliese 667 C is known to have 5, maybe 7 planets in orbit around it. 3 of the confirmed planets are known to orbit within the star's conservative habitable zone. the habitable zone is the area around a star where liquid water can exist on a planet's surface.
one of the star's 3 habitable planet's is gliese 667 Cc. it is the innermost and most habitable of the habitable planets in the system. the planet has a mass between 3.86 and 7.8 earth masses. however, the planet's radius is currently unknown. this coupled with the planet's loosely defined mass makes it difficult to determine the planet's density, which is critical to determining the composition of the planet. until the time when the planet's density is known, it can only be assumed that the planet is earth like in compostion and not a gaseous planet.

If it is tidally locked , then it is like Kepler-296f, which mighr also be tidally locked to the red dwarf star Kepler-296.
