My name is Nigel Nahous, but most people know who have seen my art know me by my artist name of Alpha-Element. I am an avid space enthusiast and artist and has been making art for nearly a decade. Since I was a child I always had a fascination with the stars and would go out at night to gaze at them. As I grew older and learned more through reading and media, my wonder only grew as I began to learn of the many different worlds dotted throughout the cosmos. My mind raced as I drew and spilled my thoughts onto paper of the possibilities and wonders of what these worlds would look like. My very imagination itself, yearning to create all of the amazing ideas floating in my head, lead me to take up art as a hobby.
My preferred media for constructing and bringing my creations to life is the digital medium, and upon attaining this at first, it lead me to share my works online. When I had first started making space themed artwork, I was probably like most new artists in the genre and I sought to fill the canvas with eye catching visuals. Over time, as my style became more refined I leaned towards the phrase "less is more" and my artworks reflected upon it. This was spurred on by a yearning for something fundamentally missing from the art itself, and that was space. I wanted to not only make artwork that was visually pleasing, but also held true to the very nature of space itself, and that is the deep and dark place that it is, devoid of most things most of the time. As a result, my artwork became darker and emptier, yet still visually pleasing, it became more like what space truly is, an empty void dotted with islands of beauty, spread sparse throughout. And it was this that I felt should be the style of art that I as an artist portray for the viewer, bordering minimalism in a sense.
